Ferdinand The Bull

When I was younger my mom always read to me the story of Ferdinand the Bull. At 5, I thought it was a cool story of a lonely bull with no friends that had a great sense of smell. 11 years has gone by and time and age have formed so now my thoughts have changed. I have seen this book through different eyes and see now the ever present kind loving message. This message tells any reader that it is okay to be you, don’t always follow others’ actions. This is no more blatantly obvious then when all the bulls are fighting and playing with each other and Ferdinand is sitting all alone, enjoying himself and smelling the flowers. This shows that when all the other bulls are fighting, Ferdinand is calmly sitting and all the bulls are enjoying themselves. This is also shown when Ferdinand is thrown into the bull ring, he does not attack the matador, instead he smells flowers to the side of the ring. This shows that in all of the public distraction, Ferdinand is still enjoying himself. Ferdinand gave me that example over a decade ago but it still lasts on. I wish everybody would have read this book and got the same long-lasting impression that I did.

Technology

We all love the way that the Internet can get us any information we want- facts, games, whatever. We love how Facebook, MySpace and Twitter can keep us up to date on all the things ore friends are doing. But do we have too much technology for our own good? I was just getting a new phone the other day and my mom didn’t want a new one because the new technology was too much for her to learn. Which got me thinking, is it just her or do other people think that technology is too scary? Technology has become a national phenomenon since the start of the millennium with the advancement of cell phones, and has exploded so much that technology isn’t a tool anymore; it’s almost another human. Technology has evolved in sports too. I was at the Washington Huskies football game the other day and there was a controversial call. The team waited to see the Instant Replay on the big screen and then reviewed the call. Without that the game would have gone on and the game would have been changed. Personally, I have the most advanced cell phone on the market. But I can use it to the fullest abilities. I can go on Facebook, play games, and do anything I want. Some people don’t try to figure it out; they say it is to challenging. Technology is great for me but for others it’s too much to handle.
